FUN. I need to have some. All work and no play something something something. I'm only 22 and been in the pod barely a month and yet I already feel like I'm frittering away the best years of my life in customer service and watching little bars go from the left to the right. Work/life balance, you know.
So, once again I defer to the superior wisdom of the IGS (can't believe I just wrote that but anyway moving on) and ask the following questions:
1. I bought a small hauler's worth of booze but drinking by myself is dullsville and I don't want to drink with my crew because I don't want to get all buddy-buddy with the employees, it's not right. So where are the good bars.
2. I've heard slave fights are hilarious fun times. I want some of that action. Where are the best ones held.
3. Is it worth going to Amamake even though it's a dirty heathen filth system I'm told they do raves or something.
Ok go. Any other advice also welcome. And no "hey baby you just need to meet me I'll show you a good time" stuff from you guys (or girls), you creep me out and you're not getting any so shut up. |

In general, the only thing us Gallenteans know how to do for sure is have some fun. If you want to enjoy yourself, there's something in the Federation for everyone. There is a refined (if a bit artsy and snobby) culture here that Amarr visitors particularly enjoy. Or if you're looking for something different you could try one of the more...hedonistic venues...
Send me a link to your program when you do it again. I'm sure it's ridiculous but it might kill time and relax my eyes between watching bars go around in a circle on my HUD while other bars go left to right.
Refined sounds okay, I'm probably more of a snob than them anyway so it's cool, I can deal with it. Hedonistic venues, no. Just no. |

Excellent. I will link you the next episode once it is uploaded onto Galnet. As for the refined entertainment, I suggest looking around systems that have been in the Federation for a long time. Gallente Prime herself is always a good place to start. There are plenty of gallery's and theaters that demonstrate classical Gallente culture. Touring the homes of some of the old Gauron families is also a good choice.
I can't believe I got a reasonably useful and practical reply almost straight away. Not sure whether to feel happy or let down. Some moron comments something stupid to redress the balance in 3...2...1... |

I don't do tans, or the outdoors in general. As a general rule I think it's a good thing that surfaces of planets still exist, I don't really enjoy my time on them unless I'm inside a building with some form of climate-control.
Also I've heard that beach is quite popular amongst capsuleers and I really don't want to run into any of you people, especially not on a beach.

Don't be daft. That's the Minmatar way to get in, that'd be going the long way for me. It'd make sense if I was coming from Rens, but who goes to Rens. |

Because we invented fun. It's a by-product of hundreds of generations of people having to turn to more and more odd behaviours in order to shock their parents. We iterate adolescent upheaval into a science. Seriously, you can do a doctorate in Making Music Sound Like Noise to Older People. At this point, it's a bit of a refined, esoteric discipline, to be honest. After the Housedustrialorrorcoravelectrance Castratistep fiasco they've sort of lost direction. Anyway, you should come out with me sometime. Or do what I do when I'm not partying, and be really bad at your job. That tends to liven things up.
Don't worry I've got the "really bad at my job" thing already cornered.
I wish Amarr space was a bit more happening. Just because I'm religious and all doesn't mean that I want to have no fun, ever. |

I didn't set out to criticise your beach, it was someone else who brought up the damn beach, I'm allowed to have an opinion about it. I can't force myself to like it. I just don't like sand and plants and other outdoor things. They can continue to exist but I don't want to see them. Nothing against you personally or your efforts in making this beach thing, may you and your beach friends have happy beach fun times.

I do hope that you can find a place that suits your needs while avoiding interacting with other capsuleers. For myself, I have come to prefer the company of those who share a commonality with each other.
The perception of sleaziness isn't an assumption. Not saying all capsuleers are like that, but in a group, one of them usually is, and I should know because I bear the brunt of it more often than not. So therefore I'm trying to avoid places where there might be groups of capsuleers. I think that's logical.
I do interact with capsuleers, and there are even some that I quite like, I'm just very selective about who I meet outside the pod, that's all.

Sepherim wrote:Lou's Bar is nice if you just want to have a drink with normal people and not call into any attention. There's rarely any pod pilots though, me at most when I visit it from time to time. It's in the Bleak Lands, though.
There were several other places as well I knew that were not bad, but I haven't checked on them in some time. The Drinker's Cathedral wasn't bad, nor the Skyhook. But, if they are still open, they usually had at least a few pod pilots. AVCL Connection, organized by our sister corporation AVCL was a good project, though I'm not sure anyone attends anymore or if it is even open after Commander Goldcore's dissapearance.
Then, of course, you have churches. You'll find that the Imperial Basilica is visited quite often by pilots and people not looking to pray but also to socialize and talk confortably. Of course, that means we go when there is no service going on, we don't want to interrupt.
There were also some dens of depravity like Le Maison de Tous Plaisirs, but I believed it thankfully got closed. Imagine going to a blooder's partying place and try not to puke. I know, it's hard.
There are also a couple of good dancing grounds and shopping venues in Amarr Prime. But I'm not much of a dancer myself, and last ball I assisted was in the Imperial Navy Ball Saloon, and I don't think it is open anymore. But there may be more balls happening soon elsewhere if you look for them.
So, as you can see, there are places to have fun, even in the Empire.
Thanks, they all sound good although I think a "ball" might be a bit formal for the likes of me.
Che Biko wrote:The Razor's Edge. It's in a deadspace pocket in Republic space. It used to see some capsuleer visitors, but these days I believe it's pretty much a club for baseliners. Although those baseliners are wealthy enough, as they can afford a trip to the club in the first place.
Given the location it sounds like a shady dive full of uncouth types.
Samira Kernher wrote:Sepherim wrote:AVCL Connection, organized by our sister corporation AVCL was a good project, though I'm not sure anyone attends anymore or if it is even open after Commander Goldcore's dissapearance. I do believe that miss Ji Young does not want a capsuleer location, however.
Sounds alright to me.
All I said was that I didn't want capsuleers being all lecherous, not that I didn't want them at all. Then people started twisting my words and saying that I have a thing against capsuleers in general, which would be silly because I'm a capsuleer too. Capsuleers can be idiots sometimes but I don't think idiocy is a quality unique to capsuleers.

And then, try to beat that record.
When I visited my grandmother last time, I saw her pour a can of Quafe into a load of washing before turning on the machine. I asked her if she was mad but she told me that the acids in Quafe help dissolve and break up grease stains on clothes, and it was cheaper than detergent, and that cutting costs like that was one way she saved up enough money to send my mother to a good school. So Quafe seems to be really useful, however I wouldn't accept your drinking challenge because I don't think I can take as much acid in my body as my mother's clothing. |

Uhm. You know that like, Quafe uses a lot of fruits in it's recipe, right? Well, many fruits are natural cleaning agents, when used in a solution.
One of the guys in my Engineering Studies class at Royal Amarr Institute actually managed to get a defective current pump working again by rubbing Quafe onto the terminals with a rag and leaving it to sit for an hour.

I'd suggest the Ivory Tower. Located in the orbit of the planet of Akila I, Fua constellation, Domain region, this 2 kilometer high and about 400 meters in diameter complex houses a number of entertainment facilities, including but not limited to a hotel habitational area, a capsuleer access bar ( or The Pavilion, as we refer to it), the Main Concourse where most smaller barsm shops, casinos and other entertainment venues are located, the Bazaar, for dealing in more exotic or larger goods that can't be found at usual shops, the Spas, which are a bit self-explanitory, the Cathedral with its en suite library, the Pleasure Gardens, where Lady Melisande Galena and Lady Carmilla d'Morenta have recently opened their Geisha House, and the Teatro Marittimo, or the Floating Theatre; the slave gladitorial tournaments and betting pools at the Theatre are currently closed, but a new season should start in about a week or so. All I wanted was some friendly advice about something and once again everyone has to get all precious and offended over the slightest little comment. Typical.
Melisande - if you don't want to be called a pimp then tell me what you're running over there because it sounds just like a brothel to me. If I've got the wrong idea you can't blame me because you haven't exactly been forthcoming with any really solid information now, have you. So fill me in. If that's against your policy because you like being all mysterious or whatever then that's fine but you can't then blame people if they misunderstand.
Steffanie - Some of them. Don't get me started.
Laurienne - I don't like Quafe that much. Not everybody does. Nothing personal, I'm sure you're a nice person and all that and I hope you sell lots of Quafe - just not to me.
Anslo - I don't go into your beach thread and say beaches are crap out of respect for our differing opinions about beaches so why don't you return the favour and leave my threads alone instead of coming in to take cheap shots, just a thought.
Leopold - point taken. I'll think about it.

There is a lovely house in Sobaseki called the Tikali Theatre House. It shows traditional Caldari plays three times a week, typically focusing on the historical dramas on Caldari Prime, though they do also show modern comedies and tragedies as well. It's an opportunity to dress up, meet people, socialize, and be catered to by some of the most welcoming and friendly people I have ever met. They are always happy to welcome foreigners and other dignitaries, also. If you are in the Lonetrek region, I'm sure they'd be happy to host you for an evening.
Wow, that sounds a bit fancy. Assuming they let people like me in, I'm all for it. I like good customer service, it's like having slaves but without the icky feeling that what if they put something weird in your food because they secretly hate you. This offer also stands for anyone else wishing to visit. I believe someone should issue the warning here. I've been to the Ivory Tower shortly after becoming a capsuleer, escorting an agent of the Ministry of Internal Order that required security there. It all looked nice, like many entertainment places around the area. And "Holder" Caine seemed so as well. It was not until shortly after that I was warned with propper proof as to captain Caine's, and that of his corporation Stillwater, allegiance to the Angel Cartel. This is the main station of Stillwater, so undoubtedly it is a dangerous place to go without forward warning. And, certainly, it is probable that he'll try to recruit you if given a chance. So, since there exist many other entertainment places as the theater house captain Scherezad suggested, I'd recommend to steer away of any suggestion captain Caine makes. Same as if captain Vitalia posted here. Or captain Thessalonica.
Ah those wonderful PIE folks, always looking out for my best interests. Who can fail to admire their diligence and honesty.

I don't care about being liked. I'm not a politician, I'm not after votes or for the maximum amount of approval. I would worry if everybody here liked me, it would mean that I'm doing something drastically wrong. Sometimes it's good to be hated. The point of this thread is not to get invites anyway, it's just for me to find out stuff. I never assumed that any of the capsuleers here actually OWNED any venues, I'm more just finding out where some are located and what they offer. I've found out most of what I want to know now, except the whole Amamake rave thing, and the slave fights info is also a bit sketchy so far, but I think I've done the best I can out of this thread and you folks so I'm happy with that. |
